東京音楽大学声楽演奏家コース卒業。新国立劇場オペラ研修所第1期修了。文化庁派遣芸術家在外研修員としてミュンヘンに留学。2003年国際ミトロプーロス声楽コンクール最高位、第5回ホテルオークラ音楽賞受賞。新国立劇場等を中心に数多くのオペラに出演、最近はモーツァルトの歌劇ダポンテ三部作をプロデュースするなど人気、実力ともに日本を代表するメゾソプラノ。CDは「地球はマルイぜ~武満徹:SONGS~」など3枚をリリース。大阪音楽大学特任准教授。
芸術監督プロデュースオペラには2005年「ヘンゼルとグレーテル」ヘンゼルで初登場、2009年「カルメン」題名役ほか今回が4度目の出演となる。

国際的なオペラシーンの第一線で活躍するテノール。特に「魔笛」タミーノ役ではベルリン・コーミシェ・オーパー、サン・フランシスコ・オペラ、テアトロ・レアル、ヒューストン・グランド・オペラ、ブレゲンツ音楽祭など多数。さらにイングリッシュ・ナショナル・オペラでの出演も控える。ザルツブルク聖霊降臨祭音楽祭及び同音楽祭では、G.ドュダメル指揮、C.バルトリとの共演で「ウェスト・サイド・ストーリー」トニーで出演。バルトリとはシャンゼリゼ歌劇場やバーデン・バーデン祝祭劇場での「ノルマ」でも共演した。
ヒューストン・グランド・オペラ研修所を修了後、同オペラや、所属したライプツィヒ歌劇場でレパートリーを広げる。その他トリノ王立歌劇場、ドレスデン州立歌劇場等にも出演している。初来日。

題名役を務めたサンタ・フェ・オペラ「スティーブ・ジョブズの革命〈進化〉」(世界初演)の録音で2019年にグラミー賞を受賞。2023-24シーズンは、アリゾナ・オペラでのG.カラーの新作「フランケンシュタイン」クリーチャー役で出演後、A.ボチェッリ(T)との11都市での米国ツアーに参加、J.ベル(Vn)及びアカデミー室内管弦楽団とソラヤ・パフォーミング・アーツ・センターでのガラ・コンサートに出演。さらにヒューストン・グランド・オペラで主要な役での出演が控える。メトロポリタン歌劇場には「セビリャの理髪師」フィオレッロでデビュー後、同作フィガロ、「ラ・ボエーム」ショナール(来日公演にも出演)、「西部の娘」ラーキンズで出演。その他の出演作にシカゴ・リリック・オペラ「ファウスト」ヴァランタン、セイジ・オザワ松本フェスティバル「カルメン」エスカミーリョがある。

Kunihito KIYOHARA
He completed a graduate program at Osaka College of Music. He has delivered excellent performances in more than 75 leading and supporting roles, including the Duke of Mantua in “Rigoletto” and Riccardo in “Un ballo in Maschera”. When he played Goro in “Madama Butterfly” in Italy, he received rave reviews from newspapers. Other appearances include that in “Les Misérables” at Imperial Theatre. He has participated in numerous religious and choral music performances as a soloist and has independently planned and directed opera productions. He is a board member of Kansai Opera Company, a member of Kamigata Opera Koubou and a part-time faculty member of the Osaka College of Music. He was awarded the 2005 Osaka Performing Arts Newcomer Award and 2013 Osaka Cultural Festival Encouragement Prize, and named a 2013 Person of Cultural Merit by Suita City. X: @k21kiyo

Masahiko HARE
After graduating from Osaka College of Music, studied in Berlin as an overseas trainee of the Agency for Cultural Affairs. After making his European debut at Chemnitz Theater as Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, he has been active in major theaters worldwide including Semperoper, Music Festivals in Reinsberg and Vadostina, and the New National Theater. He has performed with Myung-Whun Chung, Peter Schneider and the Leningrad National Opera Orchestra. Appearances in the media including "Premium Theater"and "Untitled Concert",. He received the Osaka Prefectural Arts Award for encouragement of new artists, Sakuya Konohana Award, the Osaka Cultural Festival Award for encouragement and the Hyogo Prefectural Art Award for encouragement. Professor at Osaka College of Music. He has appeared in eleven productions in HPAC including as Peter in “Hansel and Gretel” (2005), as Goro in “Madama Butterfuly” (2006).

Graduated from Kunitachi College of Music graduate school, completed the Nikikai Opera Studio Master Class, and studied in Bologna. He has played many major bass roles including Sarastro in “Die Zauberflöte”, Osmin in “Die Entführung aus dem Serail”, Colline in "La bohème" and Prince Gremin in "Eugene Onegin" at Nikikai, Scarpia in "Tosca" at Hyogo Performing Arts Center, Il Commendatore in “Don Giovanni” and Rocco in “Fidelio”at the Nissay Theater, Sparafucile in “Rigoletto” and Hagen in “Götterdämmerung” at Biwako Hall. Ramfis in "Aida" of nationwide co-production project in Japan. He is also active in concerts such as “Salome” with NHK symphony under the baton of Charles Dutoit and “Turandot” with Tokyo Philharmonic under the baton of Andrea Battistoni. Member of the Nikikai Opera Foundation.

Masataka MATOBA
Born in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture. Graduated from Osaka College of Music. Completed the major at the same university and the graduate school at Tokyo College of Music. While attending graduate school, he received a special scholarship to study at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory. After working as a member of the Biwako Hall Vocal Ensemble from 2013 to 2016, he graduated from the Nikikai Opera Training Institute with the Encouragement Award and the Excellence Award. After making his Nikikai debut as Melisso in "Alcina", he appeared in numerous performances including " Die Zauberflöte," " Le nozze di Figaro," "Madama Butterfly," and " Orphée aux Enfers." Recently, he performed in the 2023 Tokyo Nikikai Concertante Series “Friedenstag” conducted by Jun Märkl and received favorable reviews. Member of the Nikikai.
He joined in HPAC opera series as a chorus member.

A young soprano who is getting the limelight for her recent active appearances.
She graduated from Tokyo College of Music and the graduate school at the top of her class. Her appearances are including the title role in “Carmen”, Dorabella in “Così fan tutte”, Helena in “Midsummer Night’s Dream”, and concerts with famous orchestras such as Beethoven’s Nineth Symphony and concerts for New Year’s Eve and for New Year. She released her albums “CANTARES” and “Cantar del Alma”. She made great success as the title role of “The Merry Widow” as her first appearance at Hyogo Performing Arts Center, where she received huge applause for her magnificent stage appearance as Donna Anna in “Don Giovanni” in 2023.

Kasumi SHIMIZU
After completing the graduate school of Kunitachi College of Music and the New National Theatre Training Institute, studied in Italy. She has been active in sensational works such as La principessa Eboli in “Don Carlo”, Ortrud in “Lohengrin” and Herodias in “Salome” at the Nikikai, Amneris in “Aida” of the nationwide co-production project in Japan, Utsuro-hime in “Asters” (world premiere) at the New National Theatre. She performed at concerts such as Veldi’s Requiem in which she has been trusted by well-known worldwide conductors. Her first recital was broadcasted on NHK many times. The 2nd prize winner in the 6th Carlos Gomez International Competition. Member of the Nikikai Opera Foundation. She has sung four times at HPAC including her first appearance as Hippolyta in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (2016).

Hiroaki FUEDA
He graduated vocal course from the Nagoya University of the Arts, School of Music and also completed his graduate studies there. He has received numerous awards, including the prize of the Italian ambassador in the 37th Italian Vocal Concorso, first prize at the 50th Italy-Japan Vocal Music Competition and the 20th Gotoh Memorial Culture Award for Newcomers to Opera. His rich, dramatic voice with an Italian brilliance and stylish singing unlike any Japanese singers are unparalleled, and his position as one of Japan's leading primo tenors is unshakable. In 2023, he appeared as Rodolfo in “La Bohème” as a substitute in the Palermo Massimo Opera's Japan tour performance, and received great applause for his polished and overwhelming singing. He is a member of Fujiwara Opera Company and is a Special Tourism Ambassador of Yuzawa Town, Niigata Prefecture. He has sung in broadcast in NHK New Year Opera Concert since 2017. He has appeared at HPAC as Rodolfo in “La Bohème” (2022).

国立音楽大学音楽学部声楽科卒業、二期会オペラ研修所を経て、同大学院音楽研究科声楽専攻(ドイツ歌曲)首席修了。第4回静岡国際オペラコンクール「三浦環特別賞」受賞。第4回長久手国際オペラ声楽コンクール優勝。2007年ドイツ・キール歌劇場専属歌手を経て、2020年カールスルーエ・バーデン州立歌劇場専属歌手となり海外を拠点に活躍、バロック作品から現代作品まで数々の主役を務める。国内でも新国立劇場を始め数々のオペラに出演、圧倒的な歌唱と存在感で国内外のメディアから高く評価されている。2017年ドイツ・シュレースヴィヒ=ホルシュタイン州キール市から宮廷歌手の称号を授与。ドイツ在住。

He graduated from Tokyo College of Music Graduate School and Nikikai Opera Studio Master Class. Received an award for excellence upon completion. With his rich voice and acting presence, he has appeared in numerous operas including the New National Theatre, Nissay Theater and Nikikai. In particular, his talent blossomed under the guidance of directors from the theater world, such as P. Konwiczny and Amon Miyamoto. In 2006, he successfully sang Henze's “Afternoon Towing” (concert performance) at the Salzburg Festival with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra conducted by G. Albrecht. His unique singing in "Carmina Burana" received high acclaim, and he also participated in the WDO tour conducted by Joe Hisaishi, showing new possibilities as a tenor. Member of the Nikikai. First appearance at HPAC.

Hidekazu MACHI
He graduated from Kunitachi College of Music, and completed his graduate studies there at the top of his class. He completed the Opera Training Institute of the New National Theatre, Tokyo and studied in Bologna and Munich. He has appeared in operas produced by artistic director, Yutaka Sado, including “Madama Butterfly” in 2006, “Tosca” in 2012, “The Barber of Seville” in 2013, “Così fan tutte” in 2014, “La traviata” in 2015, “Le nozze di Figaro” in 2017, “Der Freischütz” in 2018 and “La Bohème” in 2022. In 2016, he received high acclaim as Dancaire in “Carmen”, conducted by Charles Dutoit with the NHK Symphony Orchestra. He also performs at the New National Theatre, Saito Kinen Festival, Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival, Seiji Ozawa Music School, and others.

He studied in Milan on a scholarship, after graduated vocal course from the Nagoya University of the Arts, School of Music and also completed his graduate studies there. He has received numerous awards, including the Gold medal in the 39th Italian Vocal Concorso, second prize in the international competition "G. Zecca". He has recently appeared as the King in “Aida”, Luther/ Crespel in “Les Contes d'Hoffmann” at the New National Theater, Roi de Corinthe in “Médée” and Don Basilio in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” at the Nissay Theater, and Angelotti in “Tosca” of Fujiwara Opera Company. he is also active in the concerts such as Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 and Veldi’s Requiem. Received encouraging prize for young artists from Aich prefecture. Member of Fujiwara Opera Company.

Takuto YUASA
Born in Nara Prefecture. Graduated from Osaka College of Music, Graduate School of Vocal Music, Opera Department. Completed the 22nd class of the New National Theater Opera Training Institute. Utilizing his lyrical voice and wide range, he has played major bass and baritone roles in Mozart's works, as well as Crisoboro in “L'impresario in angustie” (Japan premiere), Corrine in “La Bohème”, and Sharpless in “Madama Butterfly”, Zuniga in “Carmen”, Pandolf in “Cendrillon”, King Rene in “Iolanta”, and others. He has also been a soloist in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and religious songs, and is actively involved in baroque and contemporary music. Last year, he performed at the One Coin Concert in HPAC.
He joined in HPAC opera series as a chorus member.

京都市立芸術大学卒業。故レナード・バーンスタイン、小澤征爾らに師事。1989年ブザンソン指揮者コンクール優勝。1995年第1回レナード・バーンスタイン・エルサレム国際指揮者コンクール優勝。これまでパリ管弦楽団、ベルリン・ドイツ交響楽団、ケルンWDR交響楽団、バイエルン国立歌劇場管弦楽団、ベルリン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、ロンドン交響楽団、北ドイツ放送交響楽団(現・NDRエルプフィルハーモニー管弦楽団)等、欧州の一流オーケストラに多数客演を重ねている。2015年より、オーストリアを代表し110年以上の歴史を持つトーンキュンストラー管弦楽団音楽監督に就任し、欧州の拠点をウィーンに置いて活動している。オランジュ音楽祭「蝶々夫人」(演奏:スイス・ロマンド管弦楽団)、トリノ王立歌劇場「ピーター・グライムズ」、「カルメン」、「フィガロの結婚」など海外のオペラ公演の実績も多数。
国内では兵庫県立芸術文化センター芸術監督、シエナ・ウインド・オーケストラの首席指揮者を務める。CDリリースは多数あり、最新盤はトーンキュンストラー管弦楽団を指揮した18枚目のCD「マーラ ー:交響曲第3番二短調」を23年4月にリリース。著書に「僕はいかにして指揮者になったのか」(新潮文庫)、「棒を振る人生~指揮者は時間を彫刻する~」(PHP文庫/新書)など。2023年4月より新日本フィルハーモニー交響楽団第5代音楽監督に就任。

Masayoshi KURIYAMA
Born in 1926. In 1954, he made his opera debut in Menotti's opera "Amahl and the Night Visitor" (premiered in Japan) at the Nikikai. Since then, he has directed numerous operas and plays for over half a century. He has made significant contributions to the creation of operas for Nikikai, the Fujiwara Opera Company, and other organizations, and his production including “Carmen,” “La Traviata,” “Madama Butterfly,” and “Hansel and Gretel,” have been performed for many years, such as at the Traveling Arts Festival sponsored by the Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Youth Arts Theater. His productions have continued to be performed all over the country. He is also deeply involved with the Kansai Nikikai where he directed their first opera performance, “Carmen,'' in 1968, and all productions from 1976 to 1979. He has also directed many works at Osaka College of Music's The College Opera House. He has also received high praise for his productions of Japanese opera, including Toshiro Mayuzumi's “Kinkakuji” and Shuko Mizuno's “Tenshu Monogatari.”
In 2006, he directed the opera “Madama Butterfly” at Hyogo Performing Arts Center. In response to high praise and record attendance, revival performances were held in 2008.
He has received numerous awards and honors, including Minister of Education Award for Art Encouragement in 1973, Giraud Opera Award 1983, Medal with Purple Ribbon in 1987, Order of the Rising Sun in 1996, 15th Nippon Steel Music Award (Special Award) in 2004, Person of Cultural Merit in 2006, Japan Art Academy in 2010 and the Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Music Award Encouragement Award in 2015 (for “The Story of the Bamboo Cutter”, which he directed at Biwako Hall). Passed away in June 2023.
Revival stage director
Leo Iizuka
Born and raised in New York City, graduated from New York University (School of Education and School of Educational Theater) and completed graduate school there. He was active as an actor and theater instructor in New York. He worked as a stage manager at the Tanglewood Music Festival (music director/conductor: Seiji Ozawa) and the Dutch Opera (Het Muziektheater). He worked as a member of the production department at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. He made his debut as a director with “Otowa no Tsubaki” composed by the late Kazuko Hara. His stage direction of “Gurre-Lieder” (conductor: Seiji Ozawa) at the Saito Kinen Festival received high praise in “Ongaku no Tomo” magazine. He directed the Japanese premiere of Ryman's "Medea", as a special performance commemorating the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Nissay Theater and the 60th anniversary of the founding of Nikikai, which was selected as one of the best ten concerts of 2012 by "Ongaku no Tomo" magazine. In 2013, he directed the opera “The Barber of Seville” at Hyogo Performing Arts Center.
In 2024, he received high reputation in "Die Zauberflöte" for Bach Collegium Japan (BCJ).
